“If you don't feel strong desires for the manifestation of the glory of God, it is not because you have drunk deeply and are satisfied. It is because you have nibbled so long at the table of the world. Your soul is stuffed with small things, and there is no room for the great.” - John Piper

What we see depends mainly on what we look for. ~ Unknown

“It is when we are at our darkest hour, when we can see no evidence that God loves us or that he is even there to listen to our prayers, much less answer them...and yet, we still obey. It is then that the devil is reminded that his cause is lost.”

Don't occasionally visit the cross of Jesus in the midst of your thoughts and life. Don't even let there to be a well-trodden path between your everyday life and Calvary. Rather, let the grass grow up around you as you live at the foot of the cross. ~ S.B.

"Christianity is a queer business! If at the outset we try to do anything, we get nothing; if we seek to attain something, we miss everything. For Christianity begins not with a big DO, but with a big DONE." ~Watchman Nee

Are you discouraged by the push to be a 'radical' and 'missional' Christian because you think being an ordinary person in an ordinary place doing ordinary things is a waste of your gifts?
"What if youth and young adults were simply encouraged to live in pursuit of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, education, wonder, beauty, glory, creativity and worship... No shame, no pressure to be awesome, no expectations of fame, but simply following the call to be men and women of virtue and inviting their friends and neighbors to do the same in every area of life.
We need more ordinary God and people lovers." - Anthony Bradley

Lives rooted in God's unchanging grace can never be uprooted. ~ Brent Hackett

Gracious Spirit, use my words to help and heal.
Use my actions, bold and meek, to speak for You.

May You be pleased to reveal

Your life to others through mine.

This world is like a stained glass window — beautiful, but not by itself. Put solid wood on the other side of a stained glass window and the artistry is still there, but the beauty of it is lost, because it was never meant to be viewed alone. The beauty comes from the sunlight shining through it. This world was never meant to stand alone. The beauty can only be seen if the light of eternity shines through it. Block eternity from your view of the world and all you are left with is bland, dark hardness — a stained glass window with no sun. Let the Artist have His way with His world. Look for the other world, and you’ll find it allows you to see the beauty in this life also.

A home is knit together with the finest threads of honor and respect, woven with nurture and care, and held securely in place by cords of love. ~ Karla Dornacher, Love in Every Room

If you want to be really alert to seeing Jesus' divine beauty, his glory...then make sure you tune your senses to see his grace. That's what his glory is full of. ~ John Piper

Sometimes God lets you hit rock bottom so that you will discover that He is the rock at the bottom. ~ Dr. Tony Evans

God Made. Adam bit. Noah arked. Abraham split. Joseph ruled. Jacob fooled. bush talked. Moses balked. Pharaoh plagued. People walked. Sea divided. Tablets guided. Promise Landed. Saul freaked. David peeked. Prophets warned. Jesus born. God walked. Love talked. Hate crucified. Hope died. Love Rose. Spirit flamed. Word spread. God remained. ~ H.A.

With a brush you can paint a wall blue - but a smile can chase away the blues. ~ Author Unknown

God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and a lot of faith. But it's always worth the wait.

Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see. ~ Mark Twain

Before you speak, ask yourself, "Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it true, and does it improve the silence?" ~ Sai Baba

A woman's loyalty is tested when her man has nothing;
A man's loyalty is tested when he has everything.

How then shall unbelief be cured and faith be strengthened? Surely not by straining to believe the Scriptures, as some do. Not by a frantic effort to believe the promises of God. Not by gritting our teeth and determining to exercise faith by an act of the will. All this has been tried--and it never helps. To try thus to superinduce faith is to violate the laws of the mind and to do violence to the simple psychology of the heart. What is the answer? Job told us, Acquaint thyself with him and be at peace; and Paul said, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. These two verses show the way to a strong and lasting faith: Get acquainted with God through reading the Scriptures, and faith will come naturally. This presupposes that we come to the Scriptures humbly, repudiating self-confidence and opening our minds to the sweet operations of the Spirit. Otherwise stated: Faith comes effortlessly to the heart as we elevate our conceptions of God by a prayerful digestion of His Word. And such faith endures, for it is grounded upon the Rock. ~ A.W. Tozer

Eve was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his foot to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm to be protected by him, and near his heart to be beloved. ~ Matthew Henry

To surrender a precious dream is a fearful thing, but to pursue anything but the full measure of the glory of God’s love is a wasted life. ~ Joshua Steven Eddy, April 23, 2012

You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present. ~ Jan Glidewell

Give up pinterest perfection and be pinned to Perfect and become a slave to Christ.

The call to complete happiness is to come lay down your life completely, and the Call of Christ is always a call to come die and anything else is a lie.

You may wrestle, but in Him you have won. You may regret, but in Him you will rise. You may suffer, but in Him you are secure. You may no longer be free to live the easy way, but you will be free to the liberty of doing everything for love.

The slaves to Christ bear the three marks:
1. their eyes see Christ in all faces
2. their lips say yes to Christ in all places
3. and their arms embrace interruptions as Christ’s directions — as all is grace.

A man can't make a sky give. He can just make the knees bend and the hands raise.

Authentic thanks is always for all things, because our God is a God kneading all things into a bread that sustains.

To bring the sacrifice of thanksgiving means to sacrifice our understanding of what is beneficial and thank God for everything because He is benevolent. A sacrifice of thanks lays down our perspective and raises hands in praise anyways---always.

We give thanks to God not because of how we feel but because of who He is.

"My life yields most when I yield most to You."

This is what all the great artists and thinkers do---they stay awake to the wonder of God's world. Great thinkers are the grateful thinkers---the real greats live gratefully.

Whatever the pace, time will keep it and there's no outrunning it, only speeding it up and pounding the feet harder; the minutes pound faster too. Race for more and you'll snag on time and leak empty. Hurry always empties a soul.

Life is so urgent it necessitates living slow.

It is only the present moment alone that holds the possibility of coming into the presence of God. Look around, breathe deep, enter into this one moment.

The only real prayers are the ones mouthed with thankful lips.

Prayer without ceasing is only possible in a life of continual thanks.

The only way to be a man or woman of prayer is to be a man or woman of thanks.

There is a way to live the big of giving thanks in all things. It is this: to give thanks in this one small thing. The moments will add up.

Drive out the nails of habitual grumbling with the nails of habitual gratitude.

To see the glory, name the graces.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. ~ Psalm 23
